First off, I found this novel to be a bit boring at some places. The story was intriguingly interesting but it felt like a chore rather than an enjoyment because there were so many same stories with different tour places, food talk and the general football americano. The driving incidents made me think that the guy had too much of an ego to make it but then he got better as the story progressed.
Anyhow, some parts were good; such as the ones regarding the opera, Charley Cray and how the protagonist was adjusting to his new surroundings. Rick Dockery's character doesn't develop much because at the end, the reader is left with some questions.
In all, it is a book for anyone interested in reading about Italy's food, wine and eating rituals with a dash of football matches to go with 'em. Plus, descriptions about places like Venice and Milan.
